Today I Learnt...

I found myself lost thinking about wisdom today. In the ideal world we should be getting wiser with age, shouldn't we? Is that happening? Introspect!

My 10 month old was all enthusiastic for her bath as usual. Standing by the bucket filled with water, she decided to dip her arm in it. Cautiously she immersed her open palm. Under the water, she closed her fingers in a fist and pulled her hand out with anticipation beaming from her beautiful eyes. She opened her palm and wore a perplexed expression to see it empty. She tried a couple of times more with the same result.

To my surprise, she suddenly slapped the surface of the water, splattering it all around us. She looked at me, her eyes beamed with joy! She had a small, content smile on her face. Something just clicked between the two of us. Something that would be hard to comprehend even with a million words! We did it in just one look. She seemed to say "mom look, I was doing it wrong, this is how you play with water". She kept doing it, each time with greater force, allowing the water droplets to drench us both!

While I watched her play, my mind wandered to all the disappointments I had faced in life. They weren't disappointments, were they? They were only opportunities, I didn't know how to play with them! I froze in that moment. My mind was now racing, thinking of all the things I could have done differently. I could have won, each time! The next time you feel disappointed to see your empty palm, you know what you have to do.

I tickled my wise baby, kissed her, she chukled and life continued!
